Change Management

At CCL we know that every organisation we have worked with is affected by the changes, and in some cases these changes have failed and has impacted the organisation and customers.  For a change to be successful CCL implement change process initiatives as well as communication throughout the organisation.

This will help ensure employees at all levels of the organisation embrace the proposed changes.  We will work directly with customers change management teams on site or remote to help ensure there is minimal impact to the production environment while we implemented their IT  Service Management solutions or change requests.  We also define and build the change management functionally and processes to better improve internal service operations.

Let’s us not forget Release management which does make a significant difference to an organization's service costs, with effective release management it enables the service provider to add value to the business that is why we also provide the input and best practices for release management.

As the purpose of the “Change Management” process is to “control Changes to the IT Infrastructure” or any aspect of the IT services in a manner with minimum disruption.

The first steps of the change management process is to initiate and record is the initial stage of the change management process. It focuses on recording the purpose of the change request, and on obtaining the additional information needed to classify and route the request.

The Change Process consist of these activities, as indicated by best practices, rooted in ITIL processes.

1: Initiation and Recording

2: Change Review and Authorization

3: Change Planning and Scheduling

4: Change Implementation

5: Change Completion and Closure

6: Emergency Change

7: Change Management Improvement Process

The Change Process will strive to achieve the following:

1: Integrate with Configuration Management

2: Identify and reduce unauthorized changes

3: Change Management process compliance

4: Maintain change windows based on business need.

After the initial request has been submitted, the next logical stage is review and authorize. The purpose of this stage is for the change manager to assess the change request, provide any additional information to add more context, and, if required, initiate the corresponding approval process. This stage acts as the initial filter to determine if the change request should continue to the next stage in the process.

After the change request has been approved for work to begin, the next stage is to plan resources and schedules to ensure minimal impact to the production environment. After the planning and scheduling are complete, the change request goes through another approval process.

The Implement stage consists of executing against the plan and accomplishing the work.

Complete and close is the final stage of a change request. This stage indicates either that the change request has been completed successfully, or that is was cancelled.  All the data elements (time, cost, and so on) are rolled up and recorded.
